There’s Music in the Air on Cape Cod

It has always amused me when city dwellers vacationing on Cape Cod describe our natural surroundings as “noisy.” It is true, from evening peepers to the whir of insects; from the early morning screech of soaring gulls and flocks of blackbirds; surely, even the most rural areas of Cape Cod do not lie silent. Having tried, unsuccessfully, to sleep through a New York City night, lying high above the honking and sirens of the metropolis, I realize how true is the phrase that we all march–or sleep–to the beat of a different drummer.

What almost anyone can agree on is that the sound of an open-air concert on Cape Cod is music to anyone’s ears. A quintessential Cape Cod summer event, even the most crustiest curmudgeon can’t help but tap his toes, clap to a rousing standard, or sing along to a favorite tune. Citizen’s Bank hosts a Cape-wide summer concert series in conjunction with various local civic organizations and area Chambers of Commerce, weeknights from 6 P.M. – 7:30 P.M.  Check the website for the upcoming 2019 schedule.
